Then, what would happen?

I hit upon an idea for a thriller 
which has a psychological and philosophical background. 

It was a rainy season.

A monk returned from a long journey. 

When he reached the river near his temple, 
he found the bridge over the river had gone in flood.
In the course of coming to the river,
he saw many posts notifying flood warnings.
While he was giving a worried look at the swift flow of the river,
a beautiful woman dressed in white addressed him,
saying she was accompanying her mother who was very sick.
She asked him to take her mother to the opposite site and, 
to return there and take her to her mother.
But, the monk knew that it might not be possible,
because the flow of the river getting stronger and stronger informed him
that somebody had already opened the gate of the dam located upside.
He must hurry up. 
Otherwise, even himself would be swept away 
by the much stronger flow in the course of crossing the river.
Very soon, the whole area would be flooded with a torrent. 
He knew that he must choose either the mother or the daughter.
